We are currently recruiting for a hard-working Teaching Assistant for a special educational needs school located in Dudley. This school caters for children from the age of five to sixteen with Autism (ASC) and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). This is a full-time position, and you will be required to work Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 15:30. This position is due to start September 2022 and will continue on a long term basis into the new academic year.

The school is improving within academic and attainment levels and is continually looking to ensure their students develop into respectable and inspiring individuals.

You will be supporting a seven-year-old child with complex needs with their day-to-day activities. Communication can be challenging for this child so knowledge of Makaton or PECS would be advantageous. Due to the needs of the child, the ideal candidate will have previous experience of supporting individuals with special educational needs (SEND) or in a similar environment.

 The role:

  • You have previous experience of working in a care setting or with individuals with special educational needs
  • Although you will be working 1:1 with a child, you may sometimes be required to also work in small groups
  • You will be confident, enthusiastic and be able to identify and engage with different learning needs
