Job Description

Zest Education is working in partnership with a number of excellent secondary schools across Derbyshire, and we are looking for motivated and confident Teaching Assistants to support pupils aged 11–16.

About the Role

As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will support students and teaching staff to ensure lessons run smoothly and effectively. Your role may include:

  • Supporting pupils across a range of subjects
  • Working 1:1 or with small groups who require additional help
  • Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom tasks
  • Promoting positive behaviour and student engagement
  • Helping to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment
  • Providing general classroom support across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4

What We’re Looking For

We welcome applicants who have:

  • Experience working with secondary-aged pupils (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A confident, proactive approach to supporting behaviour and learning
  • A willingness to engage with pupils and build positive relationships
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to follow teacher direction

This role is ideal for experienced Teaching Assistants, graduates considering teacher training, or individuals with youth work, coaching, or pastoral experience.

A valid DBS check (or willingness to apply for one) is required.
