Teaching Assistant – Key Stage 1 (KS1) – Rugeley Primary School
Start Date: After October Half Term 2025
End Date: End of December 2025 (with potential for extension)
Location: Rugeley, Staffordshire

Zest Education is delighted to be working with a nurturing primary school in Rugeley, who are looking to appoint a passionate and reliable Teaching Assistant to join their team after the October half term. This position is expected to run until the end of December 2025, with the potential to continue into the new year.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key part in supporting pupils during this important stage of their development. Your role will involve:

  • Supporting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom organisation

  • Working with small groups or individual pupils to reinforce learning

  • Assisting with phonics, reading, writing, and numeracy activities

  • Supporting children with additional needs or lower ability levels

  • Promoting a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment

  • Helping to manage behaviour in a positive and supportive manner

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, dependable, and committed to supporting young learners.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred)

  • Experience working with children, ideally in a primary school setting

  • A calm, nurturing, and patient approach

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • A good understanding of the KS1 curriculum and phonics

  • The ability to adapt to different learning needs and styles

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
