Teaching Assistant – SEND

Job Description

A warm and inclusive primary school in Leamington Spa is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. You’ll be supporting pupils with additional needs, helping them access learning, build confidence and feel fully included in the classroom. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is patient, nurturing and passionate about making a positive difference.

Requirements

  • SEND experience is essential
  • Previous classroom experience is highly desirable
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with children
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Calm, patient and adaptable approach
  • Understanding of how to support emotional regulation and behaviour
  • Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

 

Day‑to‑day duties

  • Providing 1:1 or small‑group support for pupils with SEND
  • Assisting with learning tasks, interventions and classroom activities
  • Helping pupils stay focused, engaged and confident
  • Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour using agreed strategies
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow support plans
  • Encouraging independence and positive learning habits
  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive and nurturing school environment

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
