Teaching Assistant – SEND

Job Description

Are you a patient, supportive and SEND‑experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a full‑time role where you can make a real difference? A welcoming school is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team Monday to Friday, starting ASAP. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives on helping children overcome barriers to learning and enjoys being part of a supportive, inclusive school environment.

About the Role

You will be working closely with pupils who require additional support, helping them stay engaged in lessons, regulating emotions when needed and contributing to a calm, positive classroom atmosphere. The role involves assisting teachers across the school, adapting activities and building strong, trusting relationships with pupils who benefit from consistency and encouragement.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEND
  • Assisting with communication, emotional regulation and classroom engagement
  • Supporting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom routines
  • Helping create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive behaviour

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
