Teaching Assistant – Year 1 (SEMH & ASD)
Location: North/Northwest London
Pay: £90 – £100 per day
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Start Date: Immediately or with notice
Contract: Temp-to-perm with full training provided

Zest Education is working with a specialist SEN school in North/Northwest London that supports students aged 7 to 16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to work full-time with a small Year 1 class, starting as soon as possible.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to Year 1 pupils with complex emotional needs

  • Building trusting relationships and acting as a positive role model for pupils

  • Supporting pupils in managing their emotions and engaging with learning

  • Collaborating with class teachers, therapists and wider school staff to ensure the best outcomes

What we’re looking for:

  • A patient, caring and consistent individual who can bring calm and structure to the classroom

  • Experience working with children is beneficial, but not essential – we welcome transferable skills from roles in youth work, care, or support services

  • A strong desire to help young people grow in confidence and independence

  • Full-time availability and a long-term commitment to the role
