Zest Education is proud to be recruiting for an Unqualified Nursery Practitioner to join a friendly and supportive nursery located in Derby City Centre. This larger nursery offers a vibrant and nurturing environment where you can gain valuable hands-on experience and grow your career in childcare. This would be starting from January 2026.

About the role:

As an Unqualified Nursery Practitioner, you will work closely with experienced early years professionals to support the care, learning and development of young children. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting children with engaging play-based activities
  • Assisting with daily routines such as meal and nap times
  • Creating a safe, caring and stimulating environment
  • Building positive relationships with children, staff, and parents

This role is perfect for someone looking to start a career in early years education, with opportunities to gain experience and progress while gaining real-world nursery experience.

Requirements:

  • A genuine interest in working with young children.
  • A caring, reliable, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ideally able to drive (the nursery is accessible by public transport)

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.

The role advertised is for temporary supply work.
