Year 1 Class Teacher (KS1) – Full-Time

Location: South Birmingham
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-Time, Minimum 1 Term
Salary: Paid to Scale (MPS/UPS)

Zest Education is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Year 1 Class Teacher (KS1) for a fantastic primary school in South Birmingham. This is a full-time teaching role starting in September 2026, initially for a minimum of one term, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.

We welcome applications from both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced primary teachers, making this an excellent opportunity to develop your teaching career within a supportive and well-resourced environment.


Role Overview

  • Full class responsibility for a Year 1 class (Key Stage 1)
  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons aligned with the KS1 curriculum framework
  • Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching to meet individual needs
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and wider school staff

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be creative, engaging, and consistent in their teaching approach, bringing lessons to life and inspiring young learners. You will be reliable, intelligent, and possess a good sense of humour, enabling you to build strong relationships with pupils and colleagues alike while maintaining high standards of classroom practice.

You will also demonstrate:

  • A solid understanding of the Key Stage 1 (KS1) framework
  • Strong classroom management skills and clear behaviour expectations
  • The ability to deliver high-quality, differentiated learning experiences
  • A proactive and professional attitude towards teaching and learning

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching in KS1 (or strong placements for ECTs)
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to work in the UK

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
