About the role

Zest Education is working with a warm and supportive primary school seeking an enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about early learning, confident in delivering the KS1 curriculum, and committed to creating a nurturing, engaging classroom environment where children feel safe, valued and excited to learn.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum
  • Experience teaching in Year 1 or KS1 is highly desirable
  • Ability to plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons
  • Excellent communication and classroom‑management skills
  • A warm, patient and child‑centred approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing

 

Day‑to‑day duties

  • Planning and delivering high‑quality lessons across Year 1
  • Supporting pupils’ academic, social and emotional development
  • Using phonics‑based approaches to support early reading and writing
  • Differentiating learning to meet a range of abilities and needs
  • Creating a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, support staff and parents
  • Assessing and tracking pupil progress in line with school policies
  • Contributing to the wider life of the school

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
