The Role

As the Year 1 Teacher, you will:

  • Teach a Year 1 class every Wednesday and Thursday
  • Deliver engaging and creative lessons across the KS1 curriculum
  • Maintain a positive, structured and stimulating classroom environment
  • Support pupils as they develop their independence and confidence
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning
  • Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching to individual needs
  • Work closely with the parallel Year 1 teacher as part of the school’s 2-form entry structure
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues
  • Contribute positively to the school’s Catholic ethos and values

The Ideal Year 1 Teacher

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have experience within KS1, ideally Year 1
  • Have a good understanding of the transition from EYFS into KS1
  • Deliver creative and engaging lessons
  • Demonstrate strong classroom and behaviour management
  • Be organised, reliable and enthusiastic
  • Work effectively alongside teaching and support staff
  • Be supportive of the ethos and values of a Catholic school
  • Be available to work every Wednesday and Thursday
