Zest Education is currently recruiting for a Year 2 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Northfield, Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and reliable Teaching Assistant who enjoys supporting children through the important final year of Key Stage 1.

The school is a community primary school in the Northfield area of Birmingham, catering for children throughout the primary age range.

The role

As a Year 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to provide effective classroom support and help pupils make good progress.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with their learning across the Year 2 curriculum
  • Working with individuals and small groups
  • Supporting children with phonics, reading, writing and maths
  • Helping to prepare classroom activities and learning resources
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
  • Providing additional support to pupils who may need extra help
  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team

The ideal candidate

To be considered for this Year 2 Teaching Assistant job in Northfield, you will need:

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or relevant childcare qualification)
  • Previous experience working with primary-aged children
  • A positive and enthusiastic approach to supporting learning
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Good knowledge of supporting children with literacy and numeracy
  • A patient, caring and reliable approach
  • Availability to work full-time

Experience within KS1 or Year 2 would be particularly beneficial.
