Year 6 Teacher – Full-Time | Long-Term Role

Location: Northfield, Birmingham
Start Date: January 2026
Contract: Long-term (until July 2026, with potential extension to December 2026)


About the Role

Zest Education is recruiting for an experienced Year 6 Teacher to join a thriving and supportive primary school in Northfield, Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and skilled KS2 practitioner who can deliver high-quality teaching and learning in a crucial year of primary education.

As a Year 6 Teacher, you will take full responsibility for a class preparing for SATs and transition to secondary school. You will be expected to plan and deliver engaging lessons that challenge and inspire pupils, ensuring strong academic progress while maintaining a positive classroom environment.

Your role will include:

  • Delivering a broad and balanced curriculum tailored to Year 6 learners
  • Preparing pupils for SATs through targeted teaching and effective interventions
  • Using assessment data to track progress and inform planning
  • Managing behaviour confidently in a busy classroom setting
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
  • Contributing to the wider school community, including staff meetings and enrichment activities

This is a full-time position starting in January 2026 and continuing until July 2026, with the potential to extend until December 2026.


Key Responsibilities

  • Teach a Year 6 class within Key Stage 2
  • Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons
  • Prepare pupils for end-of-year assessments and SATs
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support pupil progress

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong experience teaching in Key Stage 2 (Year 6 preferred)
  • Ability to deliver high-quality lessons and raise attainment
  • Excellent classroom management and behaviour strategies
  • A confident, engaging, and adaptable approach
