Learning Support Assistant

Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a full-time Learning Support Assistant to work in a special educational needs school located in Cannock. This role is to start in January 2024 and will continue for the full academic year. You will be required to work 8:30am to 15:30pm, Monday to Friday.

 About the School:

The school is specifically designed to cater to students between the ages of 7-13 who have social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. We provide a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

 Responsibilities:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be working closely with our students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. Your primary role will be to provide academic and emotional support, ensuring that each student receives personalized attention and assistance. You will work collaboratively with the teaching staff to create a positive and engaging learning environment.

 Requirements:

We are looking for an individual who is resilient, confident, and experienced in managing challenging behaviours. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. You should have a compassionate approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.

 Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant experience working with children with special educational needs
  • Strong understanding of social, emotional, and mental health difficulties
  • Resilience and confidence in managing challenging behaviours
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
