Sociology Teacher, South Birmingham

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sociology Teacher to join a secondary school in Bordesley Green. This is a full-time position starting in January 2024 and ending in July 2024. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching sociology to secondary school students. Rate of pay will depend on experience, ranging from £153 – £211 per day.

Responsibilities:

– Plan and deliver engaging Sociology lessons to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
– Create and maintain a positive classroom environment that promotes learning and respect.
– Assess student performance and provide timely and constructive feedback.
– Develop and implement effective teaching strategies and resources, including lesson plans, worksheets, and assessments.
– Collaborate with other educators and participate in department meetings and professional development activities.
– Monitor and track student progress, identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate interventions.
– Mark and grade assignments, exams, and coursework in a timely manner.
– Communicate with parents and guardians to discuss student progress and address any concerns.

Requirements:

– A bachelor’s degree in Sociology or a related field.
– Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
– Experience teaching Sociology at the secondary school level.
– Strong knowledge and understanding of the Sociology curriculum.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
– Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
– Commitment to students’ academic and personal development.
– Familiarity with educational technology and ability to integrate it into teaching practice.
