Science Teacher, South Birmingham

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join an all-girls secondary school in Bordesley Green that we work with. This is a full-time role, starting in January 2024 and continuing until the end of the academic year.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality science lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4. The ability to engage and inspire students is essential, as is the ability to differentiate lessons to meet the needs of individual learners.

As a Science Teacher, you will be required to assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and mark work in a timely manner. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are therefore important for this role. You will also be expected to contribute to the wider life of the school, including participating in departmental meetings and attending parents’ evenings.

The rate of pay for this position will be dependent on experience, ranging from £153 to £211 per day. The school offer a supportive and inclusive working environment, with opportunities for professional development.

Key Responsibilities:
– Plan and deliver engaging and interactive science lessons to Key Stage 3 and 4 students.
– Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of individual learners.
– Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
– Mark student work in a timely manner and maintain accurate records of assessments.
– Contribute to departmental meetings and collaborate with colleagues to develop the science curriculum.
– Attend parents’ evenings and provide feedback on student progress to parents/guardians.
– Maintain a safe and positive learning environment for students.
– Promote a love of science and encourage students to pursue further study in the subject.

Requirements:
– Qualified Teacher status (QTS) or equivalent.
– Experience teaching science at Key Stage 3 and/or Key Stage 4.
– Strong subject knowledge in science.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
– Ability to engage and inspire students.
– Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
– Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
