Zest Education is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a school in Balsall Heath. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulty) children, providing them with the support they need to thrive academically and socially.
We are looking for candidates who have previous experience working in schools or personal care settings, as this role requires a deep understanding of the challenges that MLD children may face. You will play a crucial role in assisting the classroom teacher in delivering tailored learning programs, providing one-on-one support, and implementing strategies to enhance students’ learning experience.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
1. Supporting MLD children in their academic and personal development.
2. Assisting with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
3. Providing one-on-one support to students during lessons, ensuring their understanding and engagement.
4. Collaborating with the classroom teacher and other professionals to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
5. Monitoring and recording students’ progress, keeping accurate records of their achievements and areas for improvement.
6. Promoting independence and social skills development through various activities and interventions.
7. Ensuring the safety and well-being of the students at all times.
To be successful in this role, you should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as you will be working closely with students, teachers, and parents. Patience, resilience, and empathy are also essential qualities for a Learning Support Assistant, as you will be working with children who may require additional emotional support.
