SEND Teaching Assistant

Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? Zest is currently recruiting for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant on full-time, long-term basis on behalf of a school based in South Leicester to start as soon as possible.

The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have previous experience supporting children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. The individual must hold a Level 2 Safeguarding Certificate to be considered for the role.

Responsibilities of the SEND Teaching Assistant role include:

• Provide direct support to students, both 1:1 and in small groups
• Understanding designated lesson plans to meet the specific needs of students with autism and SEMH needs
• Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
• Working alongside other staff members and specialists to develop and implement tailored interventions
• Monitor and record student progress, reporting any concerns to the class teacher

Requirements of the SEND Teaching Assistant role include:

• Must have previous experience in a similar role or experience working with autistic / SEMH children
• Level 2 Safeguarding Certification.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
