SEND Learning Support Assistant

Job Description

Are you looking to make a positive impact on the lives of students with diverse needs, providing essential support in an inclusive learning environment? Zest is currently recruiting for a full-time SEND Learning Support Assistant for the remainder of the academic year on behalf of a school based West of Loughborough.

The ideal SEND Learning Support Assistant will be supporting students between the ages of 4yo-19yo with a mix of special educational needs including autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and sensory impairments. This role will be starting as soon as possible for the ideal individual.

 

Responsibilities of the SEND Learning Support Assistant include:

  • Providing personal support to students
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Monitoring students progress and relaying information to class teacher
  • Support students in developing essential life skills and independence

 

Requirements of the SEND Learning Support Assistant include:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a special educational needs setting
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to the well-being and development of students
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Must have effective communication skills including sign language

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
