SEND Classroom Support Assistant

Are you a dedicated individual that is keen to support children with special educational needs? Zest is currently recruiting for a full-time SEND Classroom Support Assistant on behalf of a school located south of the Leicester city centre, for the remainder of the academic year.

This school caters for students between the ages 7yo-16yo with social, emotional and mental health needs. The ideal SEND Classroom Support Assistant will be supportive and understanding to the needs of each individual, and be dedicated to help them achieve in their educational development.

Responsibilities of the SEND Classroom Support Assistant role:

• Support students in developing social skills and building positive relationships with peers
• Encouraging independence and the self-esteem of the students
• Assist in the management of classroom behaviour and support behavioural interventions
• Monitoring and recording student progress, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records

Requirements of the SEND Classroom Support Assistant role:

• Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous
• A genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs
• Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and adapt to diverse learning needs

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
