SEND Learning Support Assistant

Job Description

Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of students with special educational needs? Zest is currently recruiting for a full-time SEND Learning Support Assistant on a short-term basis for the remainder of this Spring academic term, to start as soon as possible, on behalf of a school in Nuneaton.

This school caters for students between the ages of 4yo-11yo with learning difficulties and cognitive disabilities. The ideal SEND Learning Support Assistant will be experienced supporting special educational needs including speech and language difficulties, physical difficulties and sensory impairments.

 

Responsibilities of the SEND Learning Support Assistant role:

  • Providing support to students with a range of learning difficulties, ensuring an inclusive learning environment
  • Implementing strategies outlined in students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Supporting students in developing communication skills, which may include alternative communication methods
  • Utilising assistive technology and other resources to enhance the learning experience for the students
  • Keeping accurate records of students’ achievements and areas for improvement

 

Requirements of the SEND Learning Support Assistant role:

  • Experience working with individuals with learning difficulties and cognitive disabilities is essential
  • British Sign Language (BSL) experience is desirable
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of students and the classroom environment
  • Effective communication and strong interpersonal skills

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
