SEND Classroom Support Assistant

Job Description

Are you passionate about guiding and supporting students with facing educational barriers, particularly those who have experienced exclusion. Zest is currently recruiting for a full-time SEND Classroom Support Assistant on a long-term basis to support students between the ages of 11yo-16yo who have experienced or are at the risk of exclusion.

The ideal candidate will be able to start immediately. The SEND Classroom Support Assistant must have experience in a similar setting and be comfortable implementing behaviour management strategies and intervention plans.

 

Responsibilities of the SEND Classroom Support Assistant role:

  • Providing 1:1 support to students who have faced exclusion
  • Creating a positive learning environment
  • Effectively communicating with class teacher, other support staff and parents
  • Encouraging students to overcome obstacles, build resilience and develop positive social skills

 

Requirements of the SEND Classroom Support Assistant role:

  • Expressing understanding of the challenges that the students face
  • Offering a compassionate and empathetic approach
  • Being adaptable and flexible to changing scenarios
  • Determination to make a lasting impact on the lives of the students

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
