Teaching Assistant, Birmingham

Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a part-time Teaching Assistant to work in a special educational needs school located in Birmingham. The school are seeking a passionate Teaching Assistant who can commit to 3 days a week. This position is due to begin September 2022 and will continue on a long term basis into the new academic year. This school caters for children from the age of five to thirteen with Autism (ASC). Due to the needs of the learners, the ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with individuals with special educational needs or in a care setting.

The school is improving within academic and attainment levels and is continually looking to ensure their students develop into respectable and inspiring individuals. It is important to this school that each individual student receives a high standard of education, due to this reason each class has a maximum of nine students based on their ability. You may be required to work in a variety of these classes, so it is important that you are flexible to meet the student’s needs.

You will be supporting the teacher with delivery of lessons, preparing learning resources, and supporting the students with their daily activities either on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.

The role:

  • You must have experience of supporting individuals with special educational needs or in a similar environment
  • You are a patient individual and have a positive attitude towards the educational development of the students
  • You will need to be adaptable to work and support children of a variety of ages and learning difficulties

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
