Are you passionate about education and working with children with special educational needs? Do you have recent school-based or care experience? A SEND school in Rugeley have asked us to recruit for a Learning Support Assistant to start September 2022 and will continue on a long-term basis into the new academic year.

The school caters for children from the age of five to seventeen with Autism (ASC) and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Due to the needs of the children, the ideal candidate must have previous experience working with special educational needs or in a similar setting.

This school respects young people with autism and prepares them to be as happy and independent as possible. The school supports training and development for all its staff and is continually looking for strong team players to join their team.

The successful candidate will be required to work across a range of age groups and will be supporting the class teacher on a general basis, however there may be times you are required to work on a 1:1 basis with specific students or smaller groups.

The role:

• You must have previous experience working with special educational needs and confident with behaviour management
• You must be able to demonstrate that you are keen to learn, have a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, ability to work well in a team
• You will be confident, enthusiastic and be able to identify and engage with different learning needs.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
