Classroom Support Assistant

Job Description

Classroom Support Assistant.

Zest Education is recruiting exclusively for a special educational needs school in Handsworth to recruit a full-time Classroom Support Assistant from October 2022. The role will continue on a long-term basis into the new academic year.

The school caters for children from the age of five to sixteen with Autism (ASC). Although this position is to work in a school environment, we are open to receiving applications from TA’s, support workers and individuals that have worked with adults with special educational needs.

The school has a strong focus on inclusion and equality and aims to provide all pupils with essential life skills. The successful candidate must be versatile, resilient, and a committed individual who can adapt their practice wherever necessary to support across all key stages. You will be required to work alongside the class teacher, assisting the children with their work and supporting with pupil behaviour while establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model, and responding to individual needs.

The role:

  • You will be confident, enthusiastic and be able to identify and engage with different learning needs
  • You will be working with the children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • To promote and encourage independence and personal development in pupils and maintain high expectations of behaviour at all times.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
