1:1 Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Are you passionate about supporting students with Autism (ASC) and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH)?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a special educational needs school in Nuneaton.

Position: Teaching Assistant
Location: Nuneaton
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30-15:30
Contract: Long term with potential for permanency

As a Teaching Assistant at our school, you will play a crucial role in providing a nurturing and supportive environment for students aged 10-17. Your duties will include working closely with individuals and small groups on educational activities, supporting teachers in implementing individual education programmes, and assisting with transporting students to vocational college courses offsite.

Key Responsibilities:
– Work with individuals and small groups on educational activities
– Support teachers in implementing individual education programmes
– Assist in transporting students to vocational college courses offsite
– Prepare materials and equipment for educational activities

Required Skills and Qualifications:
– Strong behaviour management skills
– Patient, resilient, and proactive approach
– Ability to de-escalate challenging situations and use positive reinforcement
– Genuine passion for helping young people succeed
– Previous experience in education or working with SEN students (beneficial but not essential)
