Classroom Support Assistant

Job Description

Are you experienced in supporting individuals with special needs? We’re seeking a dedicated and compassionate Classroom Support Assistant to join a special educational needs school in Rugeley. This school supports students aged 4 to 18 with autism and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

We’re looking for someone with prior experience in special education who is confident in behaviour management. As part of the team, you’ll work with students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping to provide tailored support to each individual. The school follows a unique Japanese-style learning approach, which integrates movement and exercise throughout the day. Each classroom is limited to just eight students and has a high staff-to-student ratio to ensure exceptional support.

This full-time role will start as soon as possible and continue until the end of the academic year, offering an enriching opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to students with autism and SEMH needs, both individually and in small groups.
  • Foster a supportive and nurturing environment that encourages student growth and learning.
  • Work across both primary and secondary age groups as needed.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience supporting students with autism or SEMH.
  • A passion for making a difference in the lives of students with special needs.
  • Able to manage behaviour effectively in a classroom setting.
  • Enthusiastic and adaptable, willing to work across different age groups.
