Zest Education is proud to be working with a very well reputable special educational needs school located in Rugeley who are seeking a committed Learning Support Assistant. This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible and will continue on a long term basis into the new academic year.

This school caters for children from the age of five to thirteen with Autism (ASC) and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Due to the needs of the children, the ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with individuals with special educational needs or in a care environment.

The team here work hard to maintain a supportive and inclusive ethos across all areas of the school and put the children at the heart of what they do. This schools aim is to build the students confidence, self-esteem, and resilience for them to become independent learners. The school are seeking an individual who can quickly build positive relationships with the children and will need to work closely as a team with the class teacher and other teaching assistants.

The successful candidate will be a committed and enthusiastic individual, who is ready to start every day with a fresh outlook and welcome the children into their learning opportunities. You will be working alongside the teacher, preparing resources, maintaining the classroom, and working with the children individually and in small groups.

The role:

• You must be confident with your behaviour management, de-escalating any challenges you may face with you calm, rational approach
• You must be passionate about working with students with special educational needs and have previous experience of working in a special school or similar environment
• You will be confident, enthusiastic and be able to identify and engage with different learning needs

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
