Musical Director and Musical Theatre Teacher

Zest Education is proud to collaborate with a leading independent performing arts school in West London to recruit a passionate and experienced Musical Director and Musical Theatre Teacher for a part-time position commencing in September 2025. This esteemed institution is renowned for its exceptional training in the performing arts, nurturing students who have gone on to achieve international acclaim in acting, singing, and performance.


🎭 Role Overview

  •  Musical Director and Musical Theatre Teacher

  • September 2025

  • Part-time

  • Teaching across KS3 and KS4, with potential involvement in KS5 for suitable candidates


🌟 Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Musical Theatre classes to students on the KS4 and BTEC Musical Theatre pathways.

  • Assist in the planning and management of BTEC and KS4 Musical Theatre productions.

  • Direct and accompany vocal groups during rehearsals and live performances.

  • Work closely with directors and choreographers to plan and deliver school musical productions.

  • Prepare students for external auditions for higher education conservatoire training, National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT), and agreed professional work.

  • Coach and prepare cast members for performances and direct the orchestra or band.

  • Design, develop, and execute suitable schemes of work across the department within the curriculum and framework of the examination boards.

  • Create and maintain assignment and assessment schedules for each unit delivered, contributing to the Musical Theatre assessment calendar.

  • Mark all work set in relation to the Edexcel BTEC Level 3 course mark scheme and maintain curricular records and reports.

  • Work with the Head of Musical Theatre on unit delivery and assist in planning the timetable.

  • Participate in the school’s audition process, including accompanying candidates.


🎓 Ideal Candidate

  • Qualifications: A relevant degree or diploma in Musical Theatre or a related field; Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable.

  • Experience: Proven experience in teaching Musical Theatre and serving as a Musical Director.

  • Knowledge: Excellent understanding of Musical Theatre, including current and historical trends.
