Position: Full-time 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Student Year Group: Year 2 (non-verbal child with additional needs)
Contract: Full academic year (term-time only—Sept 2025–July 2026)
Potential: Permanent role for the right candidate
About the Role
Provide 1:1 support to a Year 2 child who is non-verbal, facilitating communication, access to the curriculum, and social interaction.
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to deliver targeted interventions.
Use and develop strategies such as visual timetables, Makaton, and sensory breaks to support the child’s needs.
Assist with personal care and emotional regulation when needed, ensuring a safe, inclusive environment.
Ideal Candidate
Must have an NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
Proven experience supporting non-verbal children with additional needs.
Strong grasp of communication-focused strategies and sensory interventions.
Patient, empathetic, adaptable, and keen to contribute to a diverse inner-city primary school community

Zest Education are an APSCo audited agency and are dedicated to safeguarding children. All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.
Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
