Job Description

Learning Support Assistant.

Zest Education are working with a busy primary special educational needs school located in Walsall to recruit a full-time Learning Support Assistant. The role will be starting as soon as the right candidate is appointed and will be to continue for the full academic year. The school is situated in a popular area, so is easily accessible by private or public transport.

This school caters for children from the age of 11-19 with severe and profound complex learning difficulties. Students at this school are grouped in classes based principally on their learning needs therefore the successful candidate must be able to identify and engage with students who have a variety of needs and ages.

The role will require you to quickly build engaging relationships with small groups of children, and you will need to work closely as a team with the class teacher and other teaching assistants.

The role:

  • You will need to be confident, enthusiastic and be able to identify and engage with different learning needs.
  • You will be able to communicate clearly and effectively with both staff and students
  • You will need to be passionate to build trusting relationships with the children to help them manage the learning challenges they may face

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
