📢 Primary Teacher (SEMH) – Special Educational Needs School – Shenstone, Staffordshire
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full‑time, Mon–Fri (8:30–15:30)
Salary: Paid to scale
About the School
This is a nurturing special educational needs school set in a 2‑acre rural campus near Shenstone. They cater for primary-aged children (Key Stages 1 & 2) with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With both day and residential provision, they create a safe, structured environment offering small classes (typically 8 pupils or fewer), high staffing ratios, and access to dedicated well-being spaces and therapeutic interventions.
Following a recent Ofsted inspection, the school was praised for delivering a broad and engaging curriculum, innovative behavioural strategies, and a caring staff-pupil culture.

Your Responsibilities
Plan and teach well-sequenced, engaging lessons across the primary curriculum with high academic expectations
Adapt lessons to meet individual needs, including those outlined in EHCPs
Provide clear guidance to teaching assistants and collaborate with therapeutic staff
Use positive behaviour-management approaches and support pupils through emotional regulation
Champion the school’s vision: “Engage, thrive and achieve” – nurturing self-esteem, positive relationships, resilience and pride
About You
Qualified primary teacher (or ECT close to qualification)
Passionate about SEMH education and advocating for vulnerable children
Resilient, reflective, and open to creative teaching
Strong behaviour management skills and a nurturing, empathetic approach
A team player with excellent communication skills—working effectively with staff, pupils, parents/carers, and external agencies

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
