🧮 Mathematics Teacher – SEMH Alternative Provision in Walsall

Location: Walsall, West Midlands
Position: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:30 – 15:30
Start Date: September 2025 (term‑time only)

About the Role

Join a forward-thinking, inclusive alternative provision setting that offers a second chance for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This small school (maximum class size ~10) is dedicated to delivering outstanding education in a supportive and nurturing environment. Every maths class benefits from a Learning Coach, and all schemes of learning and resources are fully planned and provided.

Your Responsibilities

• Deliver well-planned, engaging maths lessons up to GCSE level, adapting to individual EHCPs and SEMH needs.
• Use a range of teaching strategies and digital tools to maintain pace and challenge.
• Integrate support staff (e.g. Learning Coaches) effectively into lessons.
• Provide formative and summative assessment, feedback, and clear next steps for students .
• Maintain a calm, positive learning environment in line with the school’s Positive Behaviour Policy
• Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
• Engage with ongoing professional development and contribute to whole-school improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Bring

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent—candidates without a Maths specialism/QTS are welcome if you are willing to work toward this
• Experience or genuine interest in teaching maths to GCSE level.
• Strong classroom management skills and ability to motivate and support students with SEMH backgrounds.
• Patience, resilience and a belief in the power of education to transform lives.
• A team-player mindset and willingness to support the wider pastoral and academic work of the school.
