Teaching Assistant – SEND School in Nuneaton

Start Date: October 2025
Hours: Full-time, Term Time Only (Mon–Fri, 08:30–15:30)
Location: Nuneaton, Warwickshire

About the Role

Join a warm, thriving SEND setting supporting pupils with a variety of needs including learning difficulties, emotional, social and mental health (SEMH) needs—across a broad age range. You will work closely with class teachers and the SENCo to:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support, delivering bespoke interventions
  • Help plan and adapt lessons to meet individual needs
  • Support children’s emotional wellbeing, nurturing positive relationships and encouraging independence
  • Contribute to a creative, inclusive learning environment where every child is valued

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist delivery of tailored programmes (e.g., phonics, social skills, therapeutic approaches)
  • Support behaviour for learning using positive, trauma-informed strategies
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, feeding back to teachers and the SENCo
  • Maintain professional standards, including enhanced DBS and safeguarding checks

Person Specification

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is patient, empathetic, and passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Has experience working with SEND or SEMH pupils (experience in mainstream is also welcome)
  • Holds relevant qualifications
  • Demonstrates strong communication, teamworking skills, and flexibility
  • Is committed to professional development and reflective practice
