About the Role

  • 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a girl in Year 1 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Pupil has limited verbal language and requires a patient, calm, and understanding approach

  • Role involves supporting the child’s communication, interaction, and access to learning

  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to implement strategies

  • Help develop independence, social skills, and emotional regulation

  • Support during class time, transitions, and playtimes as needed

  • Position requires consistency, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to the pupil’s needs

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with children with ASD or similar needs

  • Be patient, empathetic, and calm under pressure

  • Use visual aids or alternative communication methods to support understanding

  • Follow personalised strategies and routines

  • Be a strong team player with good communication skills

  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

  • Be proactive and able to reflect and adapt their approach
