Job Advertisement: 1:1 Teaching Assistant (ASD Support – Year 1)

1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a girl in Year 1 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Pupil has limited verbal language and requires a patient, calm, and understanding approach
Role involves supporting the child’s communication, interaction, and access to learning
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to implement strategies
Help develop independence, social skills, and emotional regulation
Support during class time, transitions, and playtimes as needed
Position requires consistency, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to the pupil’s needs
Have experience working with children with ASD or similar needs
Be patient, empathetic, and calm under pressure
Use visual aids or alternative communication methods to support understanding
Follow personalised strategies and routines
Be a strong team player with good communication skills
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Be proactive and able to reflect and adapt their approach
