Teaching Assistant

Job Description

A well-regarded special educational needs school in Oldbury, Birmingham is looking to appoint a full-time teaching assistant to join the team from September 2025. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting pupils with diverse and complex needs in a nurturing and structured setting.

The successful teaching assistant will work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to assist pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development. You will be expected to offer individual and small-group support, contribute to the implementation of education and health care plans, and help maintain a calm and focused classroom environment.

We are seeking a teaching assistant who is dependable, flexible, and understands the importance of consistency and routine for children with special needs. Strong communication skills and a patient, encouraging attitude are essential to building positive relationships and supporting progress.

This position would suit someone with experience in an SEN setting or an individual looking to begin a career in special education. As a teaching assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring that each pupil feels safe, supported, and valued throughout their school day.
