Full-Time Teaching Assistant: 1:1 Support (Autism) – Balsall Heath 
Location: Balsall Heath, Birmingham
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full-Time (Mon-Fri / 8.10am – 3.35pm)

Are you a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant looking for a new challenge? Zest Education – a leading Midlands-based supply agency – is proud to be working in partnership with a warm and welcoming primary school in the Balsall Heath area. We’re currently recruiting for a full-time Teaching Assistant to support a child with autism on a 1:1 basis.

This is a rewarding and varied role where your calm, patient, and positive approach will make a real difference each day. You will play a key part in the child’s educational journey, providing tailored support both in and out of the classroom, while also assisting the wider class team when needed.

What your day-to-day will involve:

  • Offering consistent 1:1 support to a child with autism

  • Assisting in both academic tasks and social development

  • Helping prepare classroom resources and supporting lesson delivery

  • Collaborating with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure inclusive learning

  • Bringing positivity, resilience, and humour to each day

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • NVQ Level 3 qualified (or above/equivalent in a relevant childcare qualification)
  • Passionate about working with children with additional needs
  • Reliable, hardworking, and enthusiastic
  • Calm under pressure with a nurturing approach
  • Able to work collaboratively with school staff and outside professionals

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
