Part-Time Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Location: Kings Heath, Birmingham
Hours: 1 day per week (ongoing, every Tuesday)
Start date: Immediate
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Zest Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Kings Heath area to recruit a Part-Time Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated on-site resource base, supporting a small group of children with a range of additional needs.

About the Role:

This rewarding opportunity involves working 1 day per week, on an ongoing basis, supporting pupils with a variety of needs including:

  • Global developmental delay

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

  • Behavioural challenges

  • Personal care/toilet training

You’ll be working alongside experienced staff to create a safe, structured and supportive learning environment where children can thrive. The ideal candidate will be patient, flexible, and confident in managing varied and sometimes challenging needs.

What We’re Looking For:

  • NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant childcare qualification

  • Previous experience working with children with SEND, particularly in a small group or 1:1 setting

  • A calm, compassionate and proactive approach

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow individual support plans

  • Commitment to making a positive difference to pupils’ progress and wellbeing

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
