Zest Education is currently recruiting for a committed and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to work at a friendly and nurturing primary school in the Burton upon Trent area. This is a fixed-term position until 31st August 2026, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.
Set in a picturesque, rural location just outside Burton, the school prides itself on its warm, community-focused ethos and inclusive approach to learning. With a strong emphasis on supporting the individual needs of its pupils, the school provides a welcoming environment where staff work collaboratively to ensure all children are happy, safe, and thriving.
Location: Burton upon Trent
Start Date: Monday 3rd November 2025 (or as soon as possible thereafter)
Contract Type: Fixed Term until 31st August 2026 (with potential for extension)
Working Hours: Part-Time – 30 hours per week, Term Time Only + 5 INSET Days
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 3:30pm (30-minute unpaid break)
You will be working on a 1:1 basis with a child who requires additional support to access learning and reach their full potential. This will include assisting with day-to-day classroom activities, supporting the child’s emotional and social development, and implementing strategies outlined in their personalised support plan.
Provide targeted 1:1 support to a child with additional needs
Support the delivery of learning activities under the direction of the class teacher
Assist with emotional regulation, social interaction, and behaviour management
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and external professionals
Monitor progress and contribute to planning and review meetings
Help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
Experience working with children with SEN in a school or early years setting
A patient, understanding, and supportive approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents
A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning

Zest Education are an APSCo audited agency and are dedicated to safeguarding children. All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.
Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
