Job Title: Level 3 Teaching Assistant (SEND)
Location: Walsall (excellent transport links)
Hours: Full Time, Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 15:30
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Potential for permanent position for the right candidate

About the School:
This is an Alternative Provision Free School in Walsall, operating in a brand‑new, modern building.

The Role:
As a Level 3 Teaching Assistant, you will support students with SEND to access the curriculum under the direction of class teachers. Your contribution will be vital to helping them achieve individual goals, build confidence, and improve their outcomes. You will work as part of the wider team to ensure students are supported academically, socially and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering high‑quality support to students with diverse special educational needs, adapting materials and approaches to individual needs.
  • Supporting classroom learning, assisting with lesson preparation, and working one‑to‑one or in small groups.
  • Promoting positive behaviour, enabling students to develop self‑control, self‑esteem and resilience.
  • Monitoring and reporting on student progress, under guidance of teachers and SEND staff.
  • Maintaining a safe, caring and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Liaising with colleagues, families and external professionals as needed.

Person Specification / You Are Someone Who…

  • Has experience working with pupils with SEND (or equivalent) at Level 3 standard.
  • Is patient, empathetic, resilient and committed to inclusion.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can adapt quickly, be flexible, creative in approaches, and responsive to students’ needs.
  • Works well as part of a team but also takes initiative.
  • Is reliable and professional, with a positive attitude.
