SEN Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is currently working with a vibrant and inclusive primary school located in Tamworth. We are looking to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support children across various age groups with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN). This position is due to start in October 2025.

About the Role:

  • Supporting pupils with a range of SEN needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and emotional and behavioural needs

  • Working across different year groups depending on pupil needs

  • Providing 1:1 or small group support to help children access the curriculum

  • Assisting teachers in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other tailored strategies

  • Helping to manage behaviour in a calm and positive manner

  • Supporting pupils with personal care or mobility needs, where required

Salary: Competitive, based on experience

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children with SEN in a primary school or similar setting

  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient attitude

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with pupils, staff, and parents

  • A flexible approach to working across different classes and age groups

  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (desirable but not essential)

The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
