SEND 1:1 Classroom Assistant

Job Description

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them thrive in a nurturing learning environment? Zest Education is working with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Leamington Spa that prides itself on providing exceptional support for pupils with Special Educational Needs. The school is seeking a caring and enthusiastic SEND Classroom Assistant to work on a long-term basis, supporting a small group of children with varying needs across different year groups. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children who benefit from extra support and encouragement.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support to a small group of pupils with a range of SEND needs across different year groups.
  • Support pupils in developing their communication, social and emotional skills.
  • Encourage engagement and participation in lessons through differentiated and creative approaches.
  • Promote independence and confidence in learning and daily routines.
  • Monitor progress, provide feedback, and contribute to individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Foster a safe, supportive and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels valued and understood.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEND, ideally within a primary school setting.
  • A minimum of a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • A good understanding of a variety of special educational needs and strategies to support them.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A caring, patient, and resilient approach to working with children.
  • Flexibility to work across different year groups depending on the needs of the school.
  • A valid DBS certificate on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
