Special Needs Support Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for a Special Needs Support Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive primary school on a 4-week contract in Coleshill. Working Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 3:00pm, this role is perfect for someone who thrives on helping children overcome challenges and reach their full potential. As a Special Needs Support Assistant, you will work closely with children across all year groups who have a range of SEND needs, providing additional support to help them succeed both academically and socially. Your responsibilities will include offering one-to-one and small group support, assisting with differentiated lesson activities, monitoring and recording pupil progress, and helping to create a positive, nurturing learning environment. You will also work alongside teachers and the school’s SENCO to ensure every child receives the care and attention they need.

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with SEND, ideally in a school setting
  • A caring, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of strategies to support children with additional needs
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable)
  • A valid DBS check or willingness to obtain one

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
