Learning Support Assistant

Job Description

Are you passionate about helping children reach their full potential? Zest Education is recruiting a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a warm and inclusive special school that provides exceptional support for pupils with a range of additional needs. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is caring, patient and motivated to make a real difference in the lives of young people.

Location: Royal-Leamington-Spa / Days: Monday – Friday / Contract: Long-term position / Ages: All years

Requirements of the candidate:
• A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND
• Experience working with children or young people in an educational or care setting
• Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Patience, empathy and excellent communication skills
• A proactive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
• Understanding of EHCPs and individual learning needs (desirable but not essential)

The school caters for children aged 4 to 16 and specialises in supporting pupils with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities. It offers a nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to develop confidence, independence and a love of learning. Staff are supported with ongoing training and a collaborative approach to ensure every pupil receives the best possible care and education.

Responsibilities and daily expectations:
• Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to access learning
• Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging, accessible lessons
• Helping to implement individual education and behaviour plans
• Encouraging pupils’ social and emotional development through positive reinforcement
• Promoting independence and self-confidence in every learning opportunity
• Assisting with personal care when required and ensuring pupils’ safety and wellbeing throughout the day
• Collaborating with teachers, therapists and support staff to create a consistent learning environment

All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
