Job Description

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a school or care environment.
  • A positive, patient, and empathetic attitude towards children with varying learning needs.
  • Ability to adapt and use creative strategies to engage pupils in learning.
  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with staff and parents.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual learning and behaviour support plans.
  • Encourage and promote independence, confidence, and engagement in all learning activities.
  • Assist with classroom organisation, lesson preparation, and resource creation.
  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive environment where all pupils can thrive.
  • Support pupils’ social and emotional development through consistent encouragement and understanding.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
