Job Description

Job Vacancy: SEN Teaching Assistant (KS2) – Support for Child with Autism
Location: Hammersmith & Fulham, West London
Contract: Full-time (long-term role)
Start Date: ASAP

The Role:

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Hammersmith & Fulham. You’ll be working within Key Stage 2, providing dedicated 1:1 support to a child with autism.

There are no behaviour concerns – the child is calm, friendly and eager to learn. Your key focus will be to build a trusting relationship, provide academic support, and help them make steady progress in line with their individual learning plan.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Build a strong, supportive relationship to encourage engagement and confidence

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 support in literacy, numeracy, and other curriculum areas

  • Adapt learning materials to suit the child’s needs and ability level

  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCo to implement strategies and track progress

  • Promote independence, communication and participation in class activities

About You:

  • Experience supporting children in KS2 (Years 3–6), ideally within a mainstream school

  • Understanding of or interest in autism spectrum conditions and inclusive education

  • Patient, empathetic and skilled at forming positive relationships

  • Confident adapting work for a child working below age-related expectations

  • Excellent communication skills and a team-focused approach

  • A genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential
