Zest Education is recruiting a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to work full time at a welcoming primary school in Cannock. This teaching assistant role involves providing 1:1 support for a child with Down syndrome and requires someone with experience using Makaton.
This is an ongoing teaching assistant position, offering stability and consistency until the child secures a place at a specialist SEND school.

About the Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide 1:1 support for a child with Down syndrome.
Use Makaton to support communication and learning.
Follow structured routines to give the child consistency.
Work closely with the class teacher and SEND team.
Maintain a nurturing, patient, and supportive approach at all times.
Experience as a teaching assistant, ideally in a SEND role.
Knowledge and use of Makaton (essential).
Experience supporting pupils with Down syndrome or similar needs.
Reliability and commitment to full-time hours for consistency.
A caring, positive, and proactive teaching assistant.
