Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Job Advertisement: Teaching Assistant (Full-Time)

Location: Solihull, Birmingham (B93 area)

About the Role:

This is a specialist provision for children aged 5–11 who require support due to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. Many pupils have experienced frequent educational disruption, including multiple school moves, exclusions, and long periods without a consistent placement.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial and rewarding role in supporting pupils with SEMH needs by:

  • Offering individualised support to help pupils develop emotional regulation and positive behavioural strategies.
  • Reinforcing our PROUD roots values through everyday practice and interactions.
  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning atmosphere that celebrates every child’s success.
  • Acting as a compassionate role model and building trusting relationships with learners who may have experienced trauma or instability.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experienced in working with young children with SEMH needs or similar—especially those displaying challenging behavior.
  • Compassionate, patient, and emotionally resilient—able to remain calm and supportive in complex or high-pressure situations.
  • Positive and growth-oriented, able to foster confidence and a sense of belonging in children who may have struggled academically or socially.
  • A strong team player who values collaboration and supports a values-led school environment.

What The School Offer:

  • A deeply rewarding role within an emotionally supportive and values-driven school community.
  • The opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children whose educational journeys have been unstable or disrupted.
  • A workplace committed to developing emotional maturity, resilience, and self-confidence in both pupils and staff.
  • Engagement with a school culture rooted in openness, equality, and understanding.
