We are seeking a Level 3 qualified Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a Year 1 pupil in a welcoming infant school in Solihull. The pupil has Autism, SEMH and high behavioural needs, and requires consistent, skilled support to thrive both academically and emotionally.

This is a full‑time position, starting ASAP and continuing on a long‑term basis.


The Role

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support within a Year 1 classroom
  • Support a pupil with Autism, SEMH and complex behavioural needs
  • Implement and follow individual behaviour and support plans
  • Promote emotional regulation, engagement and independence
  • Support learning through structured routines and positive interaction
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and pastoral staff
  • Be a calm, consistent and reliable adult presence throughout the school day

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:20am – 3:35pm
  • Term time only

Applicants must be able to commit fully to these hours on a long‑term basis.


Essential Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds an NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • Has experience supporting children with Autism and/or SEMH
  • Is confident managing challenging behaviour using positive strategies
  • Is patient, resilient and emotionally aware
  • Understands the importance of consistency for younger pupils
  • Can build strong, trusting relationships
  • Is committed, reliable and passionate about SEN support

Previous 1:1 experience in KS1 or an infant setting is highly desirable.
