Teaching Assistant – Severe Learning Disabilities (Telford)

Full‑Time | Monday–Friday | 8:30am–3:30pm Start Date: April 2026 Location: Telford, Shropshire

A specialist school in Telford is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team supporting children with Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD). This full‑time role is ideal for someone passionate about inclusive education, additional needs support, and helping pupils achieve meaningful progress in a nurturing environment.

About the Role

  • Full‑time hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm
  • Working with pupils who have severe learning disabilities, complex needs, and communication challenges
  • Supporting teaching staff with classroom activities, learning plans, and behaviour support
  • Providing one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance
  • Creating a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children with SEND (SLD, PMLD, ASD, or complex needs) is highly desirable
  • A patient, resilient, and compassionate approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow EHCPs, behaviour plans, and differentiated learning activities
  • A genuine passion for helping children thrive
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
