Learning Support Assistant – Lichfield

We’re recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant role at a busy special educational needs school in Lichfield. This is a part-time position which is due to begin January 2023 and will continue on a long-term basis. You must be able to commit to three days a week of your choice which can be discussed at interview.

This is a secondary special school for students aged eleven to nineteen with moderate learning difficulties. Some of the students have additional physical, sensory, and autistic conditions. Although this position is to work in a school environment, we are open to receiving applications from TA’s, support workers and individuals that have worked with adults with special educational needs.

This school provides a broad range of flexible learning opportunities to meet all of the student’s individual needs in an outstanding and stimulating environment. This setting nurtures and challenges the students to achieve their potential whatever their starting point. The role will require you to quickly build engaging relationships with small groups of children, and you will need to work closely as a team with the class teacher and other teaching assistants.

The role:

  • You will be confident, enthusiastic and be able to identify and engage with different learning needs
  • You will be required to work with the students individually and in small groups, supporting with all areas of the curriculum
  • Must have experience supporting individuals with special educational needs or in a similar environment

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
